Why Powering Down is Important
Power surges caused by storms can severely damage electronic equipment, leading to costly repairs or replacements. By properly shutting down and unplugging equipment from the wall, you can minimize the risk of damage.
However, it’s important to only unplug power cables—do not disconnect HDMI, network, or audio cables between devices.
How to Properly Shut Down Your Equipment
To protect your systems, follow these steps before the cyclone arrives:
1. Shutdown Process for SPTV & DSP PRO (Computers)
• Press the power button ONCE (DO NOT HOLD IT).
• Wait for the system to fully power down (this may take about 30 seconds).
• Once completely off, switch off power at the power board or wall socket to prevent it from turning back on if power is restored unexpectedly.
2. Turn Off Other AV Equipment
• Switch off amplifiers, security servers, modems, and other AV devices.
• If these are connected to a power board, turn them off individually before switching off the main power.''
How to Safely Restart Equipment After the Cyclone
Once it’s safe to turn everything back on, follow this sequence:
1. Turn power back on at the wall first.
2. SPTV and DSP PRO should automatically boot up. If they don’t, press the power button once to turn them on manually.
3. Turn on other equipment, such as amplifiers, security servers, and modems.
4. Check all TVs and audio systems to ensure they are functioning correctly.
If any issues arise after powering the equipment back on, check all connections and restart individual devices as needed.
If you don't see anything on the workout TVs, don't panic.
1. SPTV has turned on automatically if power is there, this means it hasn't seen your workout TVs or splitter while starting up. To fix this simply, turn off SPTV player again.
2. Turn on your workout TVs (making sure they are on the correct input source (usually HDMI1), turn off/on your splitter.
3. Turn on your SPTV player last.
Final Thoughts
Taking these precautions will help ensure your studio’s equipment remains protected and operational once the cyclone passes. If you have any questions or experience any issues during the restart process, don’t hesitate to reach out for support.
Stay safe, and be prepared!
