If You Are Notified of Planned Power Works
If your landlord, centre management, or power company notifies you of a scheduled power event or after-hours shutdown, follow the steps below to safely power down equipment.
Before the Shutdown
Do not isolate power at the wall or switchboard while equipment is running.
Instead, power down in the following order:
- Turn off TVs and amplifiers.
- Turn off HDMI splitter(s).
- Shut down SPTV and DSP PRO using their normal power button. – Press the power button once only. – Do not hold the power button. – Wait up to 30 seconds for the units to shut down completely.
- Once all devices are fully powered down, power may then be safely isolated at the wall if required.
Do not unplug network equipment unless specifically instructed.
If a UPS is installed, leave devices connected to it.
After Power Is Restored (Before First Class)
Power equipment back on in the following order:
- Confirm modem/router is powered on.
- Power on SPTV.
- Power on DSP PRO.
- Power on HDMI splitter(s).
- Power on TVs and amplifiers.
- Confirm workout video and audio are functioning before class.
SPTV and DSP PRO typically boot within 1 minute once powered.
If You Walk Into the Studio and Everything Is Off
This typically indicates a power interruption occurred overnight.
Complete the following checks in order:
- Check circuit breakers.
- Confirm modem/router is powered.
- Confirm SPTV and DSP PRO are powered.
- Restart HDMI splitter(s) if required (power off 60 seconds, then back on).
- Confirm video and audio before starting class.
Important Notes
• UPS units protect equipment but may fully discharge during prolonged outages.
• If UPS batteries are drained, equipment may not automatically restart.
• Always confirm the source device (SPTV) is powered on before assuming AV hardware failure.
• Technician dispatch requires fault validation and is chargeable.
Preventative Recommendations
• Ensure studio staff know how to confirm the SPTV player is powered on.
• If notified of planned power works, allow time before first class to confirm all equipment has restarted correctly.
