Easy Guide to Rebooting Your Media Player Safely
1. Before You Restart
WEDOOH media players automatically restart after hours, so regular manual restarts are not necessary.
You may occasionally need to restart a player if it is not working correctly, your studio's internet connection has changed, or WEDOOH Support has advised you to do so.
Restarting may also temporarily restore the picture on your workout TVs when there is a problem with the studio's TV or video equipment, particularly if WEDOOH Support or your local AV technician is unavailable. However, restarting may not fix the underlying problem.
When NOT to Restart
Do not restart the SPTV or DSP Pro player if:
- A class is running, unless the player has stopped working and a restart is necessary.
- Only one or some TVs are affected while others are working normally.
- The player is starting up, updating or repairing itself, or displaying related messages.
- Workout audio is still playing but the TVs show "No Signal", until you have checked the studio's TV and video equipment.
If workout audio continues but the TVs have no picture, the player may be operating normally. The issue could be with the equipment distributing video to the TVs.
Refer to our Troubleshooting No Signal or Visual on Workout TVs guide before restarting.
IMPORTANT: ONLY RESTART THE PLAYER ONCE.
Choose the first available method below. If the restart does not resolve the issue, STOP. Do not try another method or repeatedly restart or unplug the player.
Repeated or improper shutdowns can damage the software and workout video files.
2. Restart Methods
Method 1 – LCD Controller (Preferred for SPTV)
Use this method when the LCD controller attached to the SPTV player is working normally.
- On the LCD controller, select Advanced Features → Restart Machine.
- Wait approximately 60–90 seconds for the player to restart.
- Check that the workout TVs are displaying content, such as advertisements.
If the LCD controller only shows the Studio Pilates logo:
This may mean the player is still starting up or attempting to repair a problem. It may also occur if the LCD controller was unplugged or connected after the player was switched on.
- Wait at least 2–3 minutes for the player to start.
- If a connected screen shows messages such as "Preparing Automatic Repair", "Diagnosing your PC" or "Attempting Repairs", leave the player alone. Repairs may take considerably longer.
- If the controller still shows only the logo and there are no startup or repair messages, Method 1 is unavailable. You may use Method 2 if you have not already attempted a restart.
Note: The Studio Pilates logo does not necessarily mean the controller is faulty.
Method 2 – Power Button (Standard Restart – SPTV or DSP Pro)
Use this method if the LCD controller is unavailable or not responding, or when restarting a DSP Pro player.
Before starting: Make sure the player is not starting up or displaying update or repair messages. If it keeps restarting by itself or repeatedly displays the same error, contact WEDOOH Support.
- Press the player's power button ONCE ONLY. Do not hold it down.
- Wait until the player turns off completely, usually within 30 seconds.
- Wait another 30 seconds.
- Press the power button once to turn it back on.
- Allow the player to start fully before checking the TVs.
Important: If the player does not turn off normally, STOP. Do not repeatedly press the power button or unplug the cable.
If the problem remains after restarting, do not attempt Method 3.
Method 3 – Emergency Power Cycle (Last Resort Only)
WARNING: Unplugging a running player can damage its software or workout video files.
Only consider this emergency method if all of the following apply:
- The player is not responding.
- Neither the LCD controller nor the normal power-button restart is available.
- You have not already attempted another restart method.
- WEDOOH Support or your local AV technician is unavailable, and you need to try to restore operation.
DO NOT use this method if the player is displaying a startup, update or repair message.
If an emergency restart is necessary:
- Unplug the media player from the power outlet.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Plug the power cable back in.
- Allow the player to start fully.
IMPORTANT: ONLY ATTEMPT THIS ONCE.
If the problem continues, stop and contact WEDOOH Support or your AV technician.
Unplugging may temporarily restore the picture on your TVs, but it will not repair faulty TV or video equipment.
3. After Restarting
Allow approximately 2–3 minutes for the player to start, or longer if it is checking or repairing problems.
Then check:
- Content is displaying on the workout TVs.
- Workout audio is working during a scheduled class.
Note: After restarting, the SPTV may display advertisements until the next scheduled workout.
Advertisements have no audio, so silence from the studio speakers between classes is normal.
If the player is still starting up or showing repair messages, leave it alone and allow more time.
4. If the Problem Continues
STOP – DO NOT RESTART THE PLAYER AGAIN
If the issue remains after one restart attempt, do not try another method, repeatedly press the power button or disconnect and reconnect the power cable.
Email support@wedooh.com.au with:
- Your studio name and location.
- A brief description of the problem.
- Which TVs are affected.
- Which restart method you attempted.
- Any messages displayed on the screen.
If the issue involves the TVs or other video equipment, your local AV technician may also need to investigate.
